Corporate Lawyer will provide legal support and guidance to The City School in various areas of law, including corporate governance, contracts, compliance, and civil matters. This role involves legal research, document drafting, regulatory compliance, and collaborating with internal as well as external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on education-related laws, regulations, and legal precedents to provide informed legal advice to TCS
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and MOUs with vendors, partners, and stakeholders
- Assist in maintaining and ensuring compliance with TCS corporate governance structure, bylaws, and policies
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations related to educational institutions, including accreditation standards
- Advise on intellectual property matters, including trademark, and copyright issues related to research and publications
- Identify and mitigate legal risks facing TCS including liability and insurance matters
- Assist in managing and coordinating legal actions, including litigation, disputes, and investigations, and liaise with external legal counsel when necessary
- Collaborate with relevant departments to develop and update institutional policies and procedures in accordance with legal requirements
- Conduct legal training sessions and workshops for staff and faculty to promote legal awareness and compliance
- Maintain accurate records of legal documents, contracts, and correspondence
